Stackable Four Tier Flower Pots

I wanted something pretty and somewhat large for my front porch. I live in Florida therefore our extreme heat has the tendency to kill most plants. I went to Home Depot, bought four sizes of clay pots, potting soil and a hearty plant. I've seen others on Pinterest paint the clay pots but the only pot you end up seeing after a few months of growth is the bottom large pot.
I had some rain Lilly bulbs that I threw in the pots sporadically because they're very hearty and they have lots of babies.
The tricky part was getting the tierred pots to stay put. I had to dig them into the soil of the pot under them.
Here's after a few months of growth:

I water it every few days. It basically takes care of itself and when the flowers are blooming it's very pretty!!!

Scrap wood wall decor

A friend gave me a bunch of old fence slats. She didn't know what to do with them but I was instantly inspired!
Since I live in Florida seashells are not hard to come by. I bought these shells at a local shell store and spraypainted them white. My husband cut the wood 2" wide x 10" long. I painted them and lightly distressed the edges.
Here the back of the wood:
Here's each individual one:

TV Stand Update

I found this solid wood tv stand for $75 on Craigslist. It has a good structure and I knew it would be perfect for my vision of a new TV  stand.
I started painting by using primer first and the. Two coats of high hiding white paint. I let the primer dry for a whole day and let the two coats of basic white dry a whole day.
I bought new knobs from Hobby Lobby @ $4.99 each (why are knobs so expensive??):

I distressed the edges with my electric sander. And here's the finished product:
Not too shabby... (Shabby chic, that is...)

Chest of Drawers Makeover

I found this water damaged, heavy as crap, chest of drawers on the side of the road. It sat in my garage for two months before I touched it. I wasn't in love with HHR chest but you can't beat free!

Painted it antique white:

I wasn't satisfied with it being plain white. So I painted an anchor on it. This stuff is really popular in my beach town. I think the anchor gives the boring chest a unique touch.

Teal Dresser Makeover

I got this dresser for free. I'm not a fan of anything laminate but free is free! It's amazing what a few coats of paint can do.

Octopus Table Makeover

I found this gem at Goodwill for $40. I sanded it down and started painting. This is when all hell broke lose. The original wood stain started bleeding through.
It was hell! My husband assured me that paint will eventually cover it I had to just keep putting more paint on it. SIX coats of paint later it was still bleeding red. It looked like someone one been killed on my chest of drawers. I finally googled how to fix it. I put a coat of sealant on it and then paint it. It pretty much worked. There were a few places that I had it put another coat of sealant and then another coat of paint. Altogether I had 7-8 coats of paint. I used 1/2 gallon of paint. Ridiculous!!!!! Distressing this beast was a difficult but my handy dandy sander did the job! I used a projector to trace the octopus on the chest.
I'm in love with this chest! It took me HOURS, a lot of sweat and frustration but it was worth it.

From TV to Dog Bed

A friend of mine challenged me to make a dog bed out of an old tv. Our inspiration for this project was this:

I got on Craigslist and right away found this tv for $5!!!! Can't beat that!!!

My husband pulled the "guts" out of the tv. We were afraid this would be a challenge because I read other blogs where people said getting the television out was a nightmare. My husband said the tv came out pretty easy.

There were a few additions we had to make on this piece: it needed a new back and trim around the opening. When we took the tv out, a lot was attached to it.

After many hours of painting and frustration here is the finished project:

I love that my friend sent me a picture of his dog in the bed:
